Group Tutorial PREP

What is professional/industrial experience?
  • being involved or observing an industrial work space.
  • working, paid or voluntary 
  • working with/for real clients
  • live briefs for other people
  • learning how the industry works or is ran
Why is professional/industrial experience important as part of PPD
  • Impresses future employers.
  • Improves your skills and understanding of working.
  • preparation to go out into the world of work on our own
  • gain an idea of what is expected from you in a job
  • helps you decide which job is right for you, with in the Field.
How do you gain professional/industrial experience and what form does it take?
  • Internships 
  • voluntary placement
  • meeting other working designers
  • get together a list of contacts within the industry
  • get your name out there, advertising yourself.

What should you aim to gain from professional/industrial experience?
  • I good understanding of what the job entails 
  • develop skills
  • boost confidence
  • have some reliable contacts
  • Gain an idea of what sort of work is suited to your practise
